Do I want to go to this? Do you want to go to this? What do you think it will be like? Is the band any good?

Chuck Klosterman
89.3 The Current presents The Current Fakebook with Chuck Klosterman and Tapes 'n' Tapes at The Fitzgerald Theater on Friday, February 23rd at 8:00 pm. The Current Fakebook will bring together writers, be they novelists, screenwriters, bloggers or critics, and some of their favorite musicians for an evening of music and insights that spring from the written word. Current on-air host Mary Lucia , a writer and humorist in her own right, will interview guests and give them time and space to express themselves in a casual, creative and innovative format.
Chuck Klosterman is an American pop-culture journalist, critic, and essayist. He is the author of Fargo Rock City: A Heavy Metal Odyssey in Rural North Dakota; Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs: A Low Culture Manifesto; and Killing Yourself to Live: 85% of a True Story. He is a columnist for Esquire, and a contributor to The New York Times Magazine. He has also written for The New York Times Book Review, The Believer, The Washington Post, The Akron Beacon Journal, The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, Gear, Blender, Film Comment, The Village Voice, and GQ and was a senior writer for SPIN. Fargo Rock City, his first book, chronicles his life growing up in North Dakota and in love with eighties hair metal bands.
Tapes 'n Tapes, Minneapolis, indie rock band, formed in the winter of 2003, the band has released two albums, the self-released Tapes 'n Tapes followed by the full-length release, The Loon. Tapes 'n Tapes' musical style varies in tempo and in influence, ranging from fast-paced polka renditions to the slower, more blues-influenced songs. The band made its American television debut on Late Night with David Letterman on July 25th, 2006, performing the song "Insistor." The band's song "Jakov's Suite" was used in a television commercial for Nissan.
Tickets are available for $15.00. Minnesota Public Radio Members receive a discount.

I would imagine you'll be much more satisfied to read Klosterman's obligatory article reviewing the event than actually attending. It sounds like it's a bunch of dorks - albeit talented ones - getting together to dork off and tell each other how funny they are. Unless I am reading the preveiw wrong....
